What this app collects, why it collects it, and what you can ask us to delete.
Tip Top: Speed Test is a free iOS app published by Harbor Cape Works. It measures your connection, saves results on your device and offers optional AI guidance. No account or purchase is required.
Connection tests and HOSTKEY
Version 1.0.1 connects directly to https://spd-nlsrv.hostkey.com, HOSTKEY's documented Amsterdam measurement service. HOSTKEY receives your IP address and ordinary connection information, including request times, transferred data and network performance. An IP address may indicate an approximate location. The displayed Amsterdam label identifies the configured server, not your location or a response-derived geolocation.
The app sends generated, bounded download and upload payloads and empty requests for latency. These requests carry no app authentication, signed headers, launch readings, installation identifier, user question, saved results or other user content. Downloads use whole 1 MiB units within the selected data limit per direction; download requests are below 25 MB and upload requests are at most 1 MiB. Transfers consume your connection's data allowance. You can select a data limit or stop a test. Only completed, validated transfers produce a saved result.
HOSTKEY B.V.'s published privacy documentation and measurement-service documentation describe the external service. Its network may refuse, limit or stall requests. Those outcomes appear as errors, not as low-speed results. Availability varies by network and time; the app does not guarantee access from every connection.
Earlier app versions use speed.cloudflare.com. Their traffic is processed by Cloudflare under its Privacy Policy. Updating the app preserves historical Cloudflare records and their original server labels.
History stored on your device
Completed results contain speed, idle latency, jitter, transferred byte counts, test time, network type and measurement-server label. They are stored locally. You can delete a result in History or share it with the system share sheet. Sharing sends the selected text to the recipient or app you choose. Removing the app removes its local History and preferences, subject to your device's operating-system storage and backup settings.
Optional AI Guide
AI runs only when you tap Ask AI. Your question and your latest saved result (download speed, upload speed, latency, jitter, data used and the measurement-server label) are sent through this app's own server to the Gowalk AI Gateway for an answer. Do not include passwords, private account details or sensitive personal information in questions. Guidance can be inaccurate and is not professional advice.
A random per-install signing identity protects these requests. Our server keeps its public key, installation identifier, session information, request nonces and usage counters for authentication, abuse prevention and service limits. A private signing key stays protected on your device. Our server does not save ordinary AI questions or answers as a conversation history; the AI service processes them to produce the response.
If you choose Report this answer, the answer's headline, explanation and optional reason are saved on our server and linked to your installation for review. In Settings, Export AI reports retrieves your reports. Delete AI reports and identity removes those reports and the server-side records for your installation: its public key, session information, request nonces and usage counters. The signing key stays on your device, so asking AI again registers that same key and the same installation identifier is recreated on our server. This does not delete your local speed-test History or data independently processed by the measurement service or the AI provider.
App pages and support
Loading the hosted introduction, legal pages or support page sends ordinary web request information, including your IP address, to the app's hosting service. If you send a support request, we receive the name, email address and message you provide so we can respond. Contact us through Support for privacy questions or deletion of support correspondence.
When the app loads the hosted introduction it requests the page from tip-top-speed-test.site with the app's bundle identifier, your device language and the platform (iOS). On your device, it checks whether the App Store storefront country is Russia and whether an active cellular radio technology is registered. It keeps the two yes/no results in memory only, collecting once per app process when the introduction needs its URL and reusing that snapshot for retries. It does not persist these readings or write them to release logs.
Only when both readings confirm those conditions, the app adds one success marker, 6816207070=97824, to the introduction's URL. The parameter name is this app's numeric App Store identifier. If either reading is false, unavailable or fails, the URL has no success marker; no failure value or individual reading is sent. The marker describes these observed conditions. It does not identify a person, establish why they use the app or prove a purchase or entitlement. The app does not inspect receipts, provisioning profiles, Simulator status or installed apps for these checks.
The success marker goes to the app's own hosting service with the introduction request and its app-origin retries or redirects, together with the ordinary request information described above, including your IP address. It is not sent to the AI service, measurement service, product pages, legal pages, support page or external links. The app does not link the marker to a name or account and does not use it for advertising or tracking. The hosting service receives it and may use it when choosing which page it returns.
Rating invitation
On the first launch of a new installation only, when both conditions above pass, the app shows one native sheet titled "Rate Tip Top?" above the revealed hosted introduction, with the choices Rate now and No thanks. If that first launch temporarily exits the introduction, the sheet can appear above the main app instead. An installation that already ran an earlier version never gets it. Before evaluating eligibility or showing anything, the app records a separate local marker that this one opportunity was consumed. It never offers the invitation on a later launch, whether you accept, decline, dismiss it or never see it. This durable marker contains none of the readings and is independent of the URL's success marker.
Rate now closes the sheet and then asks iOS for its standard rating request. Apple decides whether anything appears, and the app does not receive or send a rating or review. No thanks, closing the sheet or dragging it down does nothing else, and the introduction stays at the step it was on. The invitation is part of the app itself and is independent of the hosted page. Support remains available in Settings.
Advertising, tracking and permissions
The app has no advertising and does not use your data for cross-company tracking. It does not request location, contacts, camera or microphone access. It does not publish your saved results. Sound and haptic preferences are stored on your device.
Your choices and changes
You can use the app without AI, stop any test, change the data limit, delete local results and export or delete submitted AI reports. External services may retain their own operational records under their policies and legal requirements. Contact Support to exercise applicable privacy rights. We will update this page if these practices change.
